2014 Nissan Pathfinder (R52) |
VS | 2013 Nissan Pathfinder |
Here’s a quick comparison between the all new 2014 Nissan Pathfinder and the outgoing 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. The all new Pathfinder is a significant change in concept to the current model. The current model is based on the Nissan Navara Ute and has genuine 4WD drive train to compete against the Mitsubishi Pajero and the Toyota Landcruiser Prado. The new Pathfinder takes a seemingly step back to compete with the likeness of the Toyota Kluger or Mazda CX-9 in features and capability.
2014 Nissan Pathfinder Vs 2013 Nissan Pathfinder exterior: The 2014 model is quite a departure in terms of looks. It is sleeker and has up to date lines compared to the old model. The new Pathfinder has similarities in looks to both the CX-9 and the Kluger which are modern and conservative at the same time. When any of the older Pathfinders were released they looked unlike the other SUV by a Japanese manufacturer hence a pity that it doesn’t follow a distinct styling rather than what we definitely call derivative in the new 2014 model.
2014 Nissan Pathfinder Vs 2013 Nissan Pathfinder interior: The interior of the new Pathfinder is a revelation, much better than the older model and more car like. It feels good quality, solid to touch and hold and not a bad place to be. We were never impressed with the old model’s dashboard as it was a little cheap looking although the other trim was good, after all it was based on a light commercial, aka Navara. Admittedly the new Pathfinder is a completely different style of car to the old model!
2014 Nissan Pathfinder Vs 2013 Nissan Pathfinder engines and technology: The 2014 Pathfinder has only one engine option and its a V6 petrol the same engine seen on the Z and Maxima series so its a good engine that is clearly capable and reliable. It has all the latest in car entertainment and safety systems and other technology. The old Pathfinder is ancient in comparison – but it can be upgraded to the same level if you wanted to!
2014 Nissan Pathfinder Vs 2013 Nissan Pathfinder road test : N/A
The new Pathfinder is a different type of car to the old one. The new one is not a hard core or even moderately off-road capable in the traditional sense. Sure you can go off-road but it is limited and one of the main differences from the older model. How it compares to it new road friendly competitors will be interesting. However if anything it’s pricing is a little high especially for the higher end models.
