Hyundai Santa fe

Here’s a quick comparison between the 150 series Toyota LandCruiser Prado and Hyundai Santa Fe. They are not directly comparable but worth a look anyway!

Toyota Prado compared to Santa Fe exterior: Although the design avoids using all the latest styling trends it uses Hyundai’s current conservative but stylish themes and has even has a Kia look to it regardless it is an easy win for the Hyundai. The Santa Fe looks great and has a presence in real life even better than the Jeep Grand Cherokee which up to now though was the probably the best looking medium sized SUV. The Toyota looks smaller on the road than it really is and not quite the conventionally stylish as the Hyundai.

Toyota Prado compared to Santa Fe interior: The Hyundai wins again for presentation which is modern and feels like a nice place to be. However it is very small compared to the Prado. The Prado is showing its age. However in terms of space the Prado is noticeably spacious yet doesn’t look it on the road. Electric rear folding seats and a standard 240V powerpoint is very appreciated.

Toyota Prado compared to Santa Fe engines and technology: The Prado’s engines are still quite good although could do with increased power especially in the diesel. The technology packages in both cars are also quite good dependent on which model you buy. Naturally the Prado is off-road focused while the Santa Fe has a basic system. The Santa Fe has a great turbo diesel but the petrol engine is underpowered considering that it not an efficient design thanks to being overweight!

In comparison to the Toyota 150 series Prado which has not had any changes, which is disappointing but expected since it doesn’t sell on the same basis as the Santa Fe. Rather you buy one for its reliability and durability, off road prowess and ability to customise. So nothing to report that we haven’t already said in other comparisons. On the other hand the Santa Fe should be compared to smaller SUVs since it doesn’t have the refinement or quietness the Prado has.

We think the obvious here. The Santa Fe is a great sized SUV for those who value a fair price and features for mainly on road use. It needs to be compared to SUV of a similar size and purpose. The Toyota Prado does really well here too and has the bonus for off-road use especially if you know which buttons to press! Sure the Toyota is looking for an update on the inside and significantly more expensive than the Santa Fe but then it’s a LandCruiser.
