Suzuki Grand Vitara

Welcome to the new 2013 Jeep Patriot Vs 2013 Suzuki Grand Vitara comparison. It’s been a while since we’ve had a look at the Suzuki Grand Vitara. For a number of reasons few still remember the Suzuki as one of the first compact SUVs. There has only been a minor facelift this year and some equipment updates but not much else car wise. Corporate wise Suzuki no longer sells cars in the US which is a pity. Jeep’s profile has risen greatly recently (2013) thanks to HUGE marketing budget and finally competitive pricing and some greatly improved SUVs. In terms of the actual car both Patriot and Grand Vitara are two of the oldest models out there.

Jeep Patriot Vs Suzuki Grand Vitara: The Suzuki Grand Vitara was released years before the Patriot yet does not reveal its age! Suzuki often designs cars to last many years so usually with themes that last a long time so the Grand Vitara is no different. It still looks modern enough despite the design being nearly 10 years old. The Jeep Patriot is not timeless and does looked aged next to the Grand Vitara. We prefer the Suzuki Grand Vitara.

Jeep Patriot Vs Suzuki Grand Vitara interior: The Patriot’s interior is plain and not particularly designed to accommodate real people or families which carry lots of people, mobile phones, tablets, children and pets. It looks conservative and a little cheap looking and feeling.  The Grand Vitara despite being an older model to the Patriot the Grand Vitara holds up very well. The Grand Vitara has a tidy and solid design the materials look reasonable and you don’t really notice the harder plastics. Some design touches like in dial displays are still ahead of its time. The Grand Vitara has the edge in terms of  interior look and feel all things considered.

Jeep Patriot Vs Suzuki Grand Vitara engine and technology: Both Suzuki and Jeep have modern engines but are now in need to the latest fuel saving technology. The Patriot probably has older tech since despite having CVT transmission on some models there is not much of a fuel saving at least officially. Both have the latest safety equipment and features although the Jeep has optional higher end stereo systems. The Grand Vitara however ultimately has more off road ability only hampered by an engine that really needs more power. It does have the underbody and structure of a small truck afterall. Since we’ve one and properly off road in the Grand Vitara it does need experienced driver to match larger off roaders. The Jeep Patriot in AWD form does not come close off road despite what you read on by anonymous ‘owners’.

The Grand Vitara is still a pretty decent small SUV! However if off road is not part of what you do than the cheaper Jeep Patriot is not a bad choice but by golly it is dated on and off the road. Bargain hard for the Grand Vitara it’s a good small SUV that’s tough and reliable.
