Welcome to the new 2016 Mitsubishi Triton Vs Volkswagen Amarok comparison. The Triton has finally been comprehensively updated and along with the Hilux and Navara are now the most up too date models in the light commercial ute class. The Amarok is now one of the oldest models in the class but certainly not the worst technically speaking. Only unnecessary high pricing (rip-off), packaging and flawed marketing has damaged its ability to compete and probably will be for some years.
Mitsubishi Triton Vs VW Amarok exterior: Once again each to their own in terms of looks. the Triton has modern lines that take longer to appreciate whereas the Amarok looks older but still truck like good.
Mitsubishi Triton Vs VW Amarok interior: The Amarok interior is nice place to be but it is more 2004 Golf than 2015 and the design its self is a little odd. There are still design flaws we’ve written about in past comparison so won’t waste your time going through them again – (Big car little space). On the other hand the new Triton’s interior is much better than the older model but it is still commercial focused. Since it is a new model it was clearly designed for commercial fleet buyers rather than private, that said the top range ‘Exceed’ model’ is quite acceptable for private purchasers. In the end we still can not forgive the Amarok for poor design for either private or commercial purchasers.
Mitsubishi Triton Vs VW Amarok technology: In a brillant marketing and packaging coup the Mitsubishi has a single diesel engine that is modern and powerful for the entire range. The Triton’s 4WD system is also one of the best in the mid and top range models but regular system on the rest. The Amarok can’t really compete due to specification issues via engine choices and lack of modern safety features if that is important to you and so forth, it is an older model but it’s not that old. It definitely needs an update.
Mitsubishi Triton Vs VW Amarok drive: N/A
We think the Triton has all the specification and pricing advantages that the Amarok simply cannot match. That said if you want a more car like interior or perhaps the look then only the Amarok will appeal, of course if you like getting ripped off thanks to high purchase price, more long term running costs (despite the introduction of fixed service pricing) and possibly other technical features they have not been honest about. Anyone contemplating purchasing a 2nd hand or used Amarok will need to be wary due to spec.
