Welcome to our comparison of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport vs Mitsubishi Pajero. The Pajero has been on it’s last legs as a production model for a few years and it’s come to our attention as the Pajero ‘Final Edition’ has been released. This is probably the end of the model that has been in production for over 10 years. However Mitsubishi have a track records for making their cars and SUV for years even though the competition has released new and better models. After all why release a new one when the old one can be sold at bargain prices?
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport vs Mitsubishi Pajero exterior comparison : The Pajero Sport is a genuinely sporty looking SUV that is completely modern and deserves to sell well. It will it look contemporary in ten years time. In comparison the Mitsubishi Pajero is over 10 years old and does look it’s age. The addition of chrome trim highlights on the outside does not work to update the old design especially when the original design wasn’t made for them. We like the Pajero Sport design better.
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport vs Mitsubishi Pajero interior comparison : The Pajero interior is an old design but it still looks good and the materials have definitely stood the test of time. There is plenty of equipment, even the base model honestly looks and feel better than the equilivent Prado benchmark but in comparison to the Pajero Sport… In comparison the Pajero Sport it is a more modern experience due to the more modern materials but it is clearly a Triton based interior it’s not bad for the price but it is also smaller.
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport vs Mitsubishi Pajero engines and technology comparison : Short and simple really – the Pajero Sport has more safety tech with auto brakes, newer engines and a decent stereo system. The older Pajero doesn’t have the latest safety systems but has plenty of comfort features and has the Rockford Fosgate branded stereo system that sounds better most in the class. The 3.2 litre diesel engine is barely more powerful than the 2.4 in the Sport but the difference in the power curves.
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport vs Mitsubishi Pajero road test: N/A
The conclusion of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport vs Mitsubishi Pajero comparison is the Pajero Sport. The Pajero Sport is a seriously great package for the price and we don’t need to say much more than that! But if we wanted a new SUV then the older Pajero still has a lot going for it, only hampered by the old exterior design. The older Pajero still has plenty of substance, only missing the latest safety systems, of course. The new and smaller Pajero Sport is very good in terms of value for money but missing the 2 most important features, a sunroof and the Rockford Fosgate stereo system admittedly most prefer the safer but annoying auto brakes! The Pajero is also great value for the size and features, especially compared with it’s direct competitors, the Toyota Prado, Ford Everest, Holden Trailblazer. A fully large, full equipped and very comfortable Mitsubishi Pajero with genuine 4WD capability for under $65,000 on the road is good value in 2019 and can cost less during the current EOFY deals especially for the mid range GLS model grade.
