Welcome to the Kia Picanto GT and GT-Line Vs Kia Picanto X-Line small car vs small SUV comparison for 2019! It has been a couple of years since the last comparison and definitely due for a updated one as Kia has just release the X-Line version of the Picanto. The X-Line is the branding used by Kia for their ‘off road’ biased trim but unreality it is mostly marketing. The Picanto X-Line is not a SUV just because it’s got a few extra millimetres in ground clearance. Regardless, believe it or not the Picanto is the best selling micro car in Australia, purely because there is very little competition.
Kia Picanto GT and GT-Line Vs Kia Picanto X-Line exterior comparison: We like the look of all three versions of the Picanto so can’t decide in terms of looks which one is better. There are only small trim differences between them. Both resemble 1990’s small hatchbacks from Japan.
Kia Picanto GT and GT-Line Vs Kia Picanto X-Line interior comparison: All three interiors are identical so we can’t decide which version is better. Yes both version come with the leather like interior trim with red accents which is a great additional both models.
Kia Picanto GT and GT-Line Vs Kia Picanto X-Line engines and technology comparison: There are two key differences between the two models and that is the engine and transmission. First of all there are two different models, the GT and the GT-Line but on the other hand there is only the X-Line no ‘X’ version. The GT version has the turbo charged 1 litre 3 cylinder engine which give the Picanto a small power but a noticeable jump in torque. This engine equates approximately a normally tuned 1.6 litre engine so it’s got a bit more go than the regular GT-Line version however the GT only comes in a manual. The GT-Line as the same engine and transmission as the X-Line which is not exactly powerful. Aside from that there is cruise control and emergency auto brakes which is unique in the micro car class. We noted that the construction of the Picanto does not include and advanced material of design tech as it is quite a heavy weight around the 1000kg mark.
The winner of Kia Picanto GT and GT-Line Vs Kia Picanto X-Line comparison is the Kia Picanto – in general. All three models are worthy of buying. The GT would be perfect if it came with an option of an automatic transmission even if to comes in a 4 speed auto since it is a city car. Even when you take price into consideration you are looking at a price of around $18,000 for either model which is OK for the level of design and technology. The Picanto X-Line and GT-Line are well equipped and good looking micro cars for sure and if that’s what you want any version here is a good one.
