Engines used by the Toyota Landcruiser Prado

This page lists all the petrol, diesel and hybrid engines used by the Landcruiser Prado over the various series or generations. Note that some may not be available in the country that you currently live in.

The Toyota Landcruiser Prado range of engines also show why you should never judge the performance of a car based solely on the engine’s specification or performance. For example the initial 120 series had clunky 4 speed auto which hampered it’s performance thankfully the introduction of the 5 speed auto in late 2004 really helped sell the Prado to many more buyers.

Others

Overseas models have a number of different engine choices and not included here. Past engine in the Prado include:
(I’m not sure what the engine codes are.)
4 Cyl Twin Cam 16 Valve 2.7 litres Petrol 112Kw @ 4800rpm 240Nm @ 4000rpm
V6 Quad Cam 24 Valve 3.4 litres Petrol 132Kw @ 4800rpm 303Nm @ 3600rpm

This engine model appears to be the same as the V8 in the 100 series which claims another set of figures.
The Lexus LX which also has the same engine claims over 200Kw and 450Nm.  Interesting isn’t it.

In Australia the claim for same V8 engine in the 100-series has:

170Kw @ 4800RPM
410Nm @ 3400RPM
