Welcome to the Nissan Navara vs Ford Ranger comparison for 2018. It’s been nearly 3 years and we decided to revisit the Nissan Navara to see if is still any good compared to the Ford Ranger. The Navara has been around in it’s current design since 2014 which means it’s about the same age as all the other current Utes on sale in 2018. The Ford Ranger is not a favorite model due to being over priced and under spec whereas the Navara has been the middle ground to us.

Nissan Navara vs Ford Ranger exterior comparison: In terms of looks not much has changed over the years and the Navara is still a good looking ute and with the badges removed is more difficult to determine who the manufacturer is regardless the design caters to both commercial and private use. The Ford Ranger hasn’t changed much either and it still looks good however it only resembles soley in the front end the US only F series which is disappointing, perhaps the next upgrade. The Ranger is bigger than the Navara but in the end the Navara has better proportions and hence looks better.

Nissan Navara vs Ford Ranger interior comparison: The Nissan Navara has a conservative and car like design and it is a nice interior that looks and feels good. The Ranger likewise has conservative but different design look, it’s a SUV or wagon style interior. The use of good quality materials helps the ambience as nice or better than the Navara. The partial digital dash is a key selling point in the Ranger but the Navara conventional dials and smaller screen have their appeal too arguably more classy. The Ranger has the edge in the interior impressions as it is bigger and we like the dash.

Nissan Navara vs Ford Ranger street engine and technology comparison: The Ranger has a powerful turbo diesel engine with a 3.2 litre capacity which means even off turbo boost it has enough power to move. It’s the largest capacity diesel in the class at the moment. This fact is a key selling point and one drive may sell it. The Nissan Navara is an interesting set of engines, one is a single turbo and the other is a twin turbo diesel. The coil suspension has been criticised for commercial and heavy use but changes are always being made. We haven’t driven one for years so can’t really say. No matter how good the twin turbo engine is if the suspension is not up to class standard it won’t work. Apart from size both are evenly matched in terms of features.

Nissan Navara vs Ford Ranger street cred comparison: The Ranger probably has the better street cred, its a Ford truck and against the current Navara it is hard to beat.

The winner of the Nissan Navara vs Ford Ranger comparison is a draw. Once again it’s all about the price but apart from that we can’t decide. The Ranger costs $10000 more for a decent spec 4×4 version than the comparable Navara and the price difference is hard to ignore. However the class is full of drive away deals thanks to competition and you could easily get what you want for less than the list or RRP price.
