I put this page up so that you can compare the 120 series Toyota LandCruiser Prado LC4 to the Jeep Commander.
When I first saw the Jeep Commander I wondered why it was so similar to the Grand Cherokee yet marketed as a separate model. Well it turns out that the Commander can seat up to 7 and the Grand Cherokee is the regular 5 seat.
It seems that the trademark Jeep ‘rectangle’ is getting a tad old. Seeing one on the road, its body looks too big for its standard wheels. The interior of the Commander is just as squared off with plastics that belong in a cheaper car. The company needs to spend much more time with design and presentation if they want to be considered as an purchase option more often. It is similar to the Great Wall Motors V240 and not what is expected in an expensive car.
The main feature which makes the Commander desirable to some and a turn off for others is the option of two petrol V8 engines. Everyone loves a bit of power in the engine department and the V8s have plenty – unfortunately they use more petrol than any other type of engine. Other than that there isn’t much on offer. A price drop to the under $50,000 or less will make things more interesting and competitive to compensate for the inevitable large petrol bills if you buy one.
Note that specifications will change according to the trim models available and additional or less accessories. You should check the official Chrysler Jeep website for your country for the most up to date information.
