Mitsubishi Pajero

Welcome to our comparison of the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Vs Mistubishi Pajero comparison review.  All new for 2014 the Nissan Pathfinder looks like a great new age medium to large SUV while the Mitsubishi Pajero is looking very dated. The Pathfinder and Pajero used to be arch enemies in the mid-sized 4WD and then SUV comparison but not they are in different categories. Being based on the Navara ute or light commercial without enough changes the Pathfinder was always going to struggle against both the Pajero and then the Prado.

The Mitsubishi Pajero was the class  leader for many years thanks to many factors but lost out due to advanced styling for its time. The design of course was made more conservative to the shape that we see today. It’s replacement is due within 18 months so it will be interesting to see if it follows the on-raod bias of the Pathfinder or something in the vein of the Prado.

Mitsubishi Pajero Vs Nissan Pathfinder exterior: The new Pathfinder is clearly a modern design that looks good. The Pajero is clearly the more traditional shape once again overdosed with chrome coated parts as per standard industry practice. It clearly doesn’t work and Mitsubishi they should have just put in even more equipment and lowered prices.

Mitsubishi Pajero Vs Nissan Pathfinder interior: When the doors are closed the Pajero still looks OK thanks to the less than high end Prado interior of the current model. The new Pathfinder feels airy and a modern and nice place to be and we think is the better interior. Just a hint for the Mitsubishi marketing department – throw in a sunroof, leather trim and GPS with some promotion and you’ll sell a few more. Many buyers are family types and perceive these features as luxury.

Mitsubishi Pajero Vs Nissan Pathfinder engines and technology:  If you want go off road and traditional 4WD feel than the Pajero is the car to get. If you want the latest electronic system and won’t beyond tourist routes than the new Pathfinder is the choice. There is tons more tech in the Pathfinder.  However just remember that you really must go off road to understand why the Pajero and its type work so well off road (seriously) with minimal issues driving on the road.

Mitsubishi Pajero Vs Nissan Pathfinder road test: Driven the Pajero ages ago and it was nice, not as nice as a Prado. The new Pathfinder should be nice too  but haven’t driven one yet.

The Pathfinder in base trim is great value for the amount of space it offers however it is only front wheel drive. The Pajero is great value too if you want a off road capable SUV that will last for ages on road or off.
