It will be inevitable that the all new 2012 Ford Ranger (PX series) and the Mazda BT-50 will be compared in a direct fashion by any potential buyer. Unlike in decades old past model that shared the same platform and virtually the same components this new model have much more customizations that are trademarks of their respective brands. For example who would have thought that the Volvo, Ford and Mazda have models that share platforms that are visibly and drive very differently! Examples: Ford Focus, Mazda 3 and Volvo C30. We have now seen the models in the flesh and think that the new Ford Ranger is very conservative in design. It uses traditional Ford themes that look nice and inoffensive. You would not pick it as a new model. The new Ford ranger was release in October 2011 and the
Mazda BT-50 a month after that. |

The interior of both cars are now noticeably different. We where told that all aspects are still subject to change as neither will be released for at least another 12 months. We prefer the more car like Mazda BT-50 only slightly ahead of the Ford Ranger at this stage. For tradesmen who mainly buy these cars will be disappointed at the lack of accessory space for additional CB radios and satellite gear. Otherwise their interiors are much more up market than any of the current utes including the new VW Amarok. Engine details have only been partially released and no pricing. We can only assume they will also have the same engines and transmission and hence load capabilities. Visit the page again for more details as it becomes available.
