This is a comparison between the 150 series Landcruiser LC5 Prado and the all new 5th generation Ford Explorer to be released later in 2010/2011. Since the model will probably not available world wide this is just a specification comparison.

The latest Ford Explorer utilizes designers and materials from all their other brands and models. It does look good both inside and out.

Ford cars have been getting pretty good over the last decade and the Explorer being one of the most popular models looks destined to continue the trend. Considering the brands and technology that have been owned by Ford it is surprising that they haven't reached the branding heights that Toyota had achieved.

See the comparison of specifications below.

Ford Explorer
VS
150 Toyota LandCruiser Prado

The exterior is clearly inspired by Land Rover and Ford Europe styling. It does look good

The interior appears to be inspired by Mazda and any other number of Japanese, European and Australian Ford models. It is very car like in appearance with up to date and quality too.

The Ford Explorer's mechanicals including 4WD system seems to be a derivative of the ones used in Land Rover so should be good. The engines include the latest technology for minimizing fuel usage yet providing lots of power.

Since it hasn't been released locally we can't comment any further. Thus the only conclusion we can write is that the new Ford looks like a pretty decent car.

Looks good so far!
