In search of happiness

The search for the meaning of life is also the search for happiness? Lots of people have written about it and come to some of conclusion like that anyway. (It’s definitely not 42.) Happiness may mean having all material possessions you desire or maybe to be the richest man on the planet it may also mean seeing the Loch Ness monster or having a loving family. But are the intangible measurements such as love and as economists say ‘utility’ bring about everlasting happiness? Where does religion fit in? Or perhaps something you’ve never considered doing before the key to happiness? Indeed is your personal happiness less important than world happiness? Is the search for happiness a metaphor for progress?
Microsoft spying on you because they can!

I wasn’t surprised when I read this. You may use the usual defense that ‘you’ll be fine if you have nothing to hide’ but the BIG question is why should a private company (Microsoft) want to know your computers and hence your activities when it has nothing to do with them. More to the point if you run a rival company why would you want them stealing you’re business secrets? After all there is nothing to monitor them. – Besides how are they ever going to innovate?
I’ve come to the conclusion that all the movies and stories like Animal Farm and Metropolis are coming true and you are letting it happen.
The Old Darwin Hotel
Mon 25 Jun 2007Filed Under Places and People | Comments Off on The Old Darwin Hotel
FACT: There aren’t many historical buildings left standing in Darwin.
For example: The old Darwin Hotel was a land mark building for many years. It was the only proper place to stay for many in Darwin before and after the Wars. Unfortunately it was demolished to make way for transportable motel accommodation. Very sad end to a historically important building. Although it happened some years ago. The official line was concrete cancer. There is a degree of truth in it being and old building and all that BUT thankfully everyone (long term residents) else in town knows that it wasn’t the complete truth no matter what sort of spin the former CLP government tried to give it.
