Introduction Here's a comparison between the 2010 Honda CR-V and the Mazda CX-7. The Mazda CX-7 when launched in 2006 was marketed as the sporty and premium priced small or compact SUV. Despite being called the CX-7 it is only a 5 seater. The problem with the initial CX-7 model was that it only had one engine and in real life used a lot high octane only petrol and turbo lag at the wrong times. The CX-7 in 2010 is still the most stylish both inside and out small SUV or soft roader available. It appears to be quite a large car due to its design but parked next to a CRV the its not bigger. |

The Mazda CX-7 has recently gained popularity due to Mazda finally dropping the Tribute model and releasing a number of CX-7s with 2WD and a diesel versions. Likewise the price has dropped to almost competitive levels. One of us has been looking closely at the CX-7 for the last few months. However hasn't bought one yet since the release of the new Renault Koelos, Peugeot 3008, Kia Sportage and a number of other models. In relation to the interior the CX-7 feels like a normal car but with more restricted views especially if you are not tall. The interior design matches the stylish exterior so it does look good as well. Despite great looks the CRV is not as sporty but feels better and is more practical when dealing with everyday kids and shopping. The stereo in the CX-7 despite the BOSE brand is not all that great. It is much better than the CRV but not as good as the Mitsubishi Outlander Rockford Fosgate's system. You'll need the better stereo system in the CX-7 it because it needs more on road noise refinement a rattle or two and distraction from a few poorly aligned trim below eye level. The drive experience was not much different from
the CRV and not impressive considering the sporty marketing. The ride on the version I drove was not as good as the Honda
(it was good) but something missing. Besides the CX-7 just doesn't
have the overall refined feel of the Honda. |

The Mazda CX-7 has plenty of substance but not as much the Honda CRV in our opinion and despite its age most of package is still up to date. Overall the CX-7 is really appealing in terms of style just don't think we'd be happy with one over time - we shall see... Check out the other small SUV comparisons for more of what we think of the Honda CRV since we don't want to repeat ourselves.
