Here is a comparison between the Honda CR-V and the 2011 Mercedes Benz GLK. The 2010 is a left hand drive only model but it is expected that there will be right hand drive model sometime later this or next year.

The GLK and CRV are not comparable on the basis that the GLK is a performance and luxury model as opposed to the family run about. However they are very similar in overall size. So we've put this up as a basis for a more interesting comparison. You will see that all the engines available on the GLK at state of the art and also available in other Mercedes Benz models. This means you will not be disappointed what ever model you get.

This GLK series is all new for Mercedes and the direct competitor to the higher end models of the X3 or even the X1. The marketing and traction packaging difference is that the GLK is more off-road orientated like the other G series. Until it gets in to country it will be difficult to tell but we think would be a suitable compromise for those who want something more capable than the majority of small SUV despite the smaller size. Just see the specifications below!

Read on to see what we think.

Mercedes Benz GLK
VS
Honda CRV

In terms of design the exterior of the GLK is in line with the existing G series models. It has a conservative and squared off look that in a way reminds us of the original Suzuki Vitara before the 'grand' was added. We think it looks good and different from the rest.

In interior (based on pictures) looks a practical and a mix of modern and retro design. The quality of materials look as good as the existing generation of regular Mercedes cars. Certainly a much nicer place to be than the BMWs, Volkswagen and in fact any other compact SUV currently available.

Simply put the GLK package looks great on paper and pictures. We'll have to try it out when it gets released here.
